Ocean City Dog Park
    because dogs are family too!

OCEAN CITY DOG PARK NEWSLETTER

Attention, all you loyal dog lovers...

The official grand opening cermony was held in May 2007. The park is currently open to those posessing a valid Paw Pass which can be purchased at City Hall. You must first complete an application and have the necessary vaccinations along with a valid dog license.

The dog park is located at 45th Street and Haven Avenue off of West Avenue, adjacent to the public works building. The site is approximately 45,000 square feet. It is divided into three areas: a separate compound for small dogs, a large dog compound, and a separate dog run. Each section is double gated with an unleash entryway. There are trained pet ambassadors to help owners initiate their dogs into its new environment. Private parking for the dog park is provided. In addition, the park is handicapped accessible.

The park has a special ground cover, a four inch layer of pea gravel (no pun intended). There are amenities such as a gazebo, poop scoop bag dispensers, and a number of special agility stuctures your dogs will certainly enjoy. There are also several benches so you can enjoy the park while your dog exercise. These benches will be available as memorials. For more information, click on 'Buy a Bench', leave your name and email address and we will contact you as we get closer to the opening of the park.

It is that time of year again when we begine to focus our attention on the Annual Dog of the Year Contest. We mentioned in our last newsletter that 2008 was an unprecedented success, and we expect to surpass that in 2009. For more information on how you can enter YOUR DOG in this contest, please go to the Contest 2010 link. You'll find an application form with appropriate rules and regulations.

We hope we have your attention because here comes the pitch - we need YOUR help. We need volunteers for fund raising, promotions and to train as Ambassadors for the Pet Patrol. Please contact us now. Just click on 'Volunteer', fill out the form and we'll be in touch.

And please don't forget those donations. A park like this is costly and even with all the help we're receiving from the county and the city, there will still be a lot of expenses for maintenance and beautification. Every penny goes directly to the dog park. Every penny is tax deductible.

There will be an application process to ensure that only immunized and licensed dogs have access to the park. The Paw Pass application form can be downloaded and printed using the link in the sidebar menu. Guidelines for the park use and rules are also included with the application form. You can also just click on 'Park Etiquette' to review them.

We'd like your comments or if you have any questions, please click on 'Contact' and let us hear from you.  Thanks, The Editor

And remember...dogs are family, too!
