Annabelle should be chosen as “Dog of the Year” because, despite a difficult early life, she has remained a sweet, fun-loving, and affectionate dog. Born 3 ½ years ago in Louisiana, Annabelle lived with a sibling until she was sold to a hunter who kept her tied up in a cage for nearly a year. She was rescued by a cattle rancher, who kept her as one of 10 outdoor dogs. The other nine dogs were large breeds. Annabelle became adept at standing on her two back legs in order to b seen. Her loneliness was felt the cattle ranchers. They gave her up to a rescue group so that she could find a home where she could het the human contact for which she yearned. She was shipped to Collegeville, Pennsylvania with many of the Katrina victims and posted on Petfinder.com.
Ellie and Anne adopted Annabelle in March of 2006. Annabelle loves people. Annabelle has lots of energy until you pet her, at which time she simply flops into your arms with adoring eyes. Annabelle loves to run and swim. Her only bad habit is related to her love of mud. She loves to plunge her head in a nice mud puddle and shake it around until she gets thorough mud coverage. She will always be “Dog of the Year” in our hearts because of her loving and comical nature!
